Hygiene and Pandemics

In the past 70 years, half of all the pandemics in the world have originated in China.  Chinese originated pandemics have killed over 2.5 million people.

Asian Flu (1957) – 1.1 million

Hong Kong Flu (1968) – 1 million

SARS (2002) – 770

Covid-19 (2019) – 200,000 and counting

The most recent pandemic is still ongoing.

Whether you believe that the Covid-19 pandemic was caused by the disease somehow jumping from a bat to a pangolin to a human, inside a fish market. Or that it was created in the nearby Wuhan laboratory which was studying similar viruses and one way or another leaked into the nearby population, the outcome is the same. Poor hygiene and a lack of care in China have contributed to millions of deaths globally and continues to create disasters today.

The Chinese government publicly claims that the disease originated somehow in a fish/streetfood/exotic animal market, however they have gladly reopened those same markets, while silencing those who warned about the early origins of the disease. More broadly, food standards across the country are low and numerous scams and attempts to cut corners exist, which are sometimes discovered and reported. Without changing that attitude towards human safety another disaster may only be years away.

By continuing to purchase products from China, which has not taken steps to stop either the supposedly dangerous markets, or the virology laboratory, and continues to create new hygiene problems, you are implicitly supporting the next pandemic.
